The Biocode laboratory is located on the first floor of the Gump station main research building. It offers 8 bench spaces for individual work with shelves for samples and equipment. Each of this spaces is assigned to a particular team for the time of its expedition. Three other general use bench spaces containing scopes and cameras are shared by the deployed teams.

The Biocode laboratory offers two dissecting scopes and two compound scopes. Two other Gump station's dissecting scopes can be used when available if many teams are deployed at the same time. Three Leica cameras can be pluged either on dissecting or compound scopes and connected to a computer to take high resolution pictures. An Automontage camera set is available to make perfectly focused pictures of preserved specimens.
